¡Hola! My name is Lydia.
About 23 years ago I came from my home town of Madrid, to live here in England. I’m not that old! I was only 17 when I had the urge to come and improve the English I had learnt during after school classes.
I fell in love with the country, so I made it my home and now I feel possibly as British as I do Spanish.
I’ve just had my first child, Carlitos who is now one. Being half Spanish he is being brought up bilingual – it is incredible to witness how children’s minds absorb multiple languages so easily!
I was looking at ways in which Carlitos could carry on learning Spanish away from home, and came across Spanish Amigos. It appealed to me, not only for him to carry on learning the language, but also for myself, as a new career that would be compatible with my life as a mother, being able to use my skills, share my knowledge and help others learn this beautiful language.
¡Hasta pronto!
